Feb. 17th ~ 243 days in foal
Chilli is huge as usual! She is an old pro at this, but it is always exciting to see what she produces. Pictures this week...
Since both Chilli and Desi are red based, the foal can only be red. However, both also carry the sooty gene, which can darken the color; plus Chilli has the rabicano gene, which causes roaning along the flanks.

May 7 ~ 322 days in foal
Chilli spent last night pawing, pacing and rolling around her pen. Very restless and busy.
This morning she wanted to go out, so I let her (even though she had milk on her back legs), but in ten mintues time she wanted back in. Brought her in and she marched right into Sychas' stall which we were cleaning and began rolling around. We hurried and go the stall cleaned and rebedded. She then rolled around and got up and down for the next 30 mintues and quit.
She is now standing in the stall, contently munching hay while we all wait for this foal!!

Yep - its physics....... she cannot possible go full term and expect her feet to still touch the ground. I do beleive you should be contacting the Guiness (sp?) Book of Records staff..... she has to be breaking some kind of record being that large in foal.

Yesterday evening, Chilli came in with her udders dripping like a faucet and even streaming at times. We knew she could not hold off any longer!!! Close to 9pm, she foaled out this HUGE filly (of course!). This filly is already bigger than Sychas filly (who is very large) and she is not even unfolded yet. She has Desis' head, like all his foals, and was up and mobile right away. Surprisingly super agile and balanced for her size. When she finally laid back down (2 hours later...), she just sat back on her hocks, folded her legs up into her belly (while she was in the air still) and gracefully put her knees on the ground and laid down. Never seen that before! She looked like she did a little levade! First attempt at getting those legs working: When she finally stood up, she just launched herself into the air and came down with all four legs spread wayyyyy out, it was too funny! Heres' one to give you an idea of her size, Chilli is 15'2:
