Feb. 17th ~ 250 days in foal
We have been waiting two years for this Desi foal from Sycha. This will be our third foal from her and we are very excited! Being a Charro filly herself, these foals are our second generation in our breeding program.

April 18 ~ 319 days in Foal
Sychas' belly has dropped (usually means 3-4 weeks left). She was quiet today and even starting to stand parked out. Not much in the udder department yet...

May 2 ~ 333 days in foalSycha is already producing milk, thick but still yellowish. She usually waxes the morning of, then foals that night before midnight. Her calcium level is all the way up already and her ph is almost where it needs to be; 6.6 tonight. Previous years she goes 6.6, then within a day or two goes down 6.0, then foals that night. She is also off her feed, which she does a few days before too. She went 337 days with Gringo and 341 days with Vistosa. I think she is jealous of Contoras' filly, so she may go early...!

------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sychas' milk is thick and pure white; small amount of wax this afternoon and evening. She is having some smaller contractions and kicking her belly alot, standing parked out which she often does close to foaling. She also finished up her feed tonight and went right to eating hay....we'll watch her tonight for a bit, but my guess is another 24 hours.
She did not leave the barn area today while turned out and wanted to come in by 3:00, which is a few hours early. So some good changes going on! Eating a quick dinner, washing baby towels, then back down to the barn I go!

May 5 ~ 336 days in foal
Long night last night....lots of pawing and kicking at her belly. Her levels are right on where they need to be tonight, nipples full of thick, sweet milk and her vulva is swollen and lax. Sycha is cranky this evening and standing parked out in a corner of her stall. Lets all hope we have a nice, healthy foal on the ground soon!!

Sorry for making everyone wait - been a hectic day! Well, we have a FILLY! All I can say is "WoW"! She is huge! A dunskin tobiano - dun + creme....she is wonderfully marked and has the mascara, dark nose and even some stripes on the backs of her front legs where it is not white. Her mane appears like it will be very frosted. She is very active and already today she looks like she is a few weeks old. More tomarrow...gotta go watch Chilli!

Does she have 2 dark swirls next to each other on her forhead?

Yes, two swirls...I always seem to be drawn to horses that have two! Even when I would go to an auction and pick up some ranch horses, most would have two swirls even though I did not notice them beforehand! Couple picts taken today...still no name, but she is a sweet thing!
