Feb. 24 ~ 266 days days in foalThis is Hijas' first foal, so we have no way of planning if she will foal on time, early or late. Many maiden mares will go later, as they are nervous and can delay things. We will also have nothing to go on as far as patterns in testing the milk, so we may be camped out for awhile waiting!

April 7 ~ 339 days in FoalHija is officially due tomarrow. She has no milk to test, though nice size udders...being a maiden mare, her milk may not come in until after she foals. Her belly has moved back and dropped, she is very agitated in general and seems ready to go. No muscle tone in her hindend and tail is very lax. Keeping a close eye on her...my guess is she is the next one to go!

April 11 ~ 343 days in Foal - 3 days OVERDUE!
Hija is holding out in maiden mare fashion....she had some wax this afternoon, but still not enough milk to test levels. I'll keep a close eye on her tonight as I wait on Leza...

May 13 ~ 5 days OVERDUE!
Tonight may be the night! Hija came in from being out all day with her udders about to explode - larger than they were this morning...foal was kicking alot while I was cleaning her up in the stocks tonight. Alot of other changes pointing to having that foal tonight! Let's hope she won't hold out any longer!
