Feb. 17th ~ 252 days in foal
Nesa is our mare from the last Kiger adoption and we are eagerly awaiting this foal!! I belive her and Charro are really going to produce some of our best horses. She is carrying high, like Sage did the first few years. Picts coming!

Early this evening, I finally got to sit down for a few minutes and as I gazed out into the broodmare pasture I see Nesa trotting up the pasture with a foal running next to her! I about fell off my chair! I had just seen her two hours before grazing with the other mares and no foal at that point, so this little one was brand new!
She was not officially due until the 16th and she had typical maiden mare udders, so hard to tell really what is going on (plus maiden mares usually go late because they hold on to things longer). This was a big surprise for sure!
Of course it is a filly!!!!! Very leggy, short back, nice angles. Can't figure if she is dun or grulla. She has a red dorsal and I don't remember any of our grullas ever having that, only the duns.
Will put up picts tomarrow!

My guess is she is a dun - no white. Nesa is not too thrilled with me around, but is better than last night already, so I am hoping to be able to handle the filly in the next day or so. Today she is already wanting to see what I am all about. Last night was a full moon, so I was thinking of something with "Luna" in her name...
