Feb. 20th ~ 300 days in foalLast year Momma went her full term at 340 days. She seems to be carrying the foal quite lower and further back than the last few years - maybe we'll get a colt this year! This will be Desis' first foal to hit the ground and we are VERY excited to say the least!

March 1 ~ 311 days in foalForgot to look at Momma's udders today, but she is slowing down some. She has a bad knee on her left (was broke when she was young and no one treated it) and it usually bothers her the last month of being pregnant. It is a little swollen, but I am not letting her get as fat as she has in the past.

7 more days until Mommas' due date....!!
We checked her milk for the first time yesterday to get a starting point and also took her temp. I charted out her patterns from the last two years so we will keep a good eye on those to see where we end up. In '06 Momma foaled at 334 days. I do not think she is that close, but it could be any time now.
All the other mares are getting anxious about thier foals too. They all hang around the paddock where Morgan and her foal, Zues, are. Soon they will be added to the herd.

March 26 ~ 336 days in Foal
According to Mommas' milk tests and comparing to the last two years, she should foal saturday or sunday night. We had a spike in the ph last night and usually she jumps then drops dramatically over the next 3-4 days. Her udder is full and warm in the mornings, still diminishing in the evenings though.
In '06 she foaled at 3am and last year right before midnight....I am voting for the before midinight one again!! Those 3am'ers are rough on me!

April 3 ~ 343 days in FoalI am hoping that this is not a sign of things to come for this season!! Between Morgan holding out FOREVER and Mari (Lynns' other mare) being bagged up for two months now (she is going to just have a yearling I am convinced!)....now Momma is making us wait for that first Desi foal! Here are some picts taken last night:

April ~ 345 days in FoalFinally we have some good changes happening. Milk is almost where it needs to be, comparing to the last two years. Don't think she will go tonight, but hoping for tomarrow...

April 8 ~ 348 days in FoalOkay, I belive we will be seeing that first Desi foal in the next 36 hours! Mommas' milk is finally changing and for the first time this morning I saw a small bead of wax. She is definately more antsy in general and that foal has moved back. Her belley actually looks smaller which means the foal is turning...

Officially 10 days overdue and officially driving me nuts!! Watched her for about an hour last night, late, from 1:30-2:30. Very restless and agitated - lots of tail flipping. Hoping tonight is the night! Come'on Momma!
